Subconsciously Evolving (part 2 of 2)

Origins

It was in 1898 when a book containing the basic principles of subliminal messaging was published. The book was ‘New Psychology’ by E.W. Scripture. Then in 1900, the Müller-Lyer illusion came out. Where it was claimed that the illusion was due to the subconscious mind.

Then there was Harry Hollingworth, an American Psychologist that published an advertising book that said subliminal messages can be used by advertisers to sell their products. From then on, further studies on the said messaging system have been done.

More Development

During the World War II, a tachitoscope was developed that used the method of subconscious imaging. It’s an instrument that flashes a picture for a very short time. This was used to train the soldiers to be able to recognize the planes of their enemies. Now days, it is used to train people to read faster and test their sighting skills.

Technology has improved and subliminal messages are in different forms already. Now days, it is not only available to scientists and the government but also for public use. It can be purchased by anyone in the public either for his or her own private use or not. Acquiring subliminal media is very easy now and accessible to everyone.

A lot of people believe in it, and sometimes-even use it to, as they say ‘improve their lives’. They offer messages to help modify certain behaviors such as smoking, lack of confidence, being too lazy and much more. Many see it as the answer to the tantamount of problems they have.

Truly, as time passed by, the field of subliminal messaging has subconsciously evolved in the midst of this overly conscious world!

Subconsciously Evolving (part 1 of 2)

Would you believe if you were told that your actions could be controlled by simply listening to a song, looking at a picture or by simply watching a video? As crazy and scary as it sounds, there have been a lot of studies through the years on conveying messages in a covertly manner that we are unaware of.

The Science

This is the field of subliminals, or properly called as the process of subliminal messaging. These are messages that you can call as ‘secret messages’ or those that has hidden meanings. They are signals that are hidden within another message so that your overt senses could not perceive them a single bit.

It is said that even though your overt senses like vision, and hearing can’t detect these messages, your subliminal mind however is able to perceive them. That’s why you can be influenced by the message. In turn, this results to actions that you do. However when you do these actions, it can be in a conscious or unconscious level.

Branching From A Theory

The theory of having the conscious, subconscious and unconscious mind was proposed by Sigmund Freud. According to him, our consciousness is like an iceberg, where only ten percent is afloat the water and the rest is deeply below the water. The conscious part is the only one afloat and the subconscious is the level in between the conscious and unconscious mind.

Through this theory, a lot of studies and research has been done in regards through the subconscious mind. There are school of thoughts that believe that the subconscious mind when stimulated can lead you to do actions or it may influence your behaviors.

The Basics On Stock Trading (part 2 of 2)

Negotiations may take a few minutes or even longer, depending on the performance of the stocks as well as the market. For more complex trades and larger orders of stocks however, there may be a more complicated process but the principles basically remain the same.

Trading Electronically

A growing trend these days however, is trading stocks electronically, which is done through advanced computerized systems. Unlike the NYSE that generally operates through the manpower of brokers, its counterpart, the National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (NASDAQ), trades stocks completely through electronic means.

These electronic markets forgo with human stockbrokers and instead make use of advanced computer networks to match buyers and sellers. And through this method, transactions are usually faster and more efficient.

Through electronic trading, investors get many benefits such as being able to get faster confirmations, as well as facilitating control by having online investing readily available through the Internet. However, brokers basically still handle the trades, as investors do not have direct access to the electronic markets.

The process that takes place in both methods however, is usually hidden from investors. Typically, if you are an investor, a call from your broker and regular reports on your stock investments would be provided for you, but you will not really get to see what is happening behind the scenes.

Through the investments that individuals make, many businesses are kept afloat and running. And in exchange for this, investors get a fair share of earnings. Stock trading may be a complex process, but at the end of the day, many people basically benefit from all of it. As a result, the whole concept becomes simple.

The Basics On Stock Trading (part 1 of 2)

The most common picture that comes to mind when people hear about stock trading is the one we see in movies where men in suits basically shout and wrestle each other in some huge New York building to bicker about money. Although to some extent, there is some truth to this image, trading in the stock market is actually a more complex concept that helps many people earn money and keep businesses alive.

The concept of trading fundamentally consists of the buying and selling of stocks among individuals or companies through brokers. Through buying a share of stock or a share of ownership in a particular company, an individual can then benefit and earn money from however the company they invested on may fair in the market.

There are two basic methods in which the stock market operates –on the exchange floor where buying and selling is done more traditionally and electronically where technology takes on the exchange game.

Trading On The Exchange Floor

The trading that occurs on the more traditional exchange floor of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is basically what most of us have become accustomed to from seeing it in the movies and on television. Basically, the NYSE consists of many brokers who negotiate the deals for individuals to be able to trade stocks.

As chaotic as the stock exchange floor may seem, there is actually a common pattern that occurs among most simple trades. First, an order to buy a certain number of stocks would be negotiated through a broker. After this, the broker’s order department would forward this arrangement to their floor clerk on the exchange. The floor clerk would then inform the company’s floor traders in order to find other traders that are willing to sell the equal number of stocks from the company that is offered to be bought. After the two parties agree on a price and close the deal, the message would be forwarded back up the line, and the broker would then inform the interested buyer on the final price.

Social Networking and Teens (part 2 of 2)

The time may come that someone they meet online will want to meet them in person. It is probably okay to do so after knowing this person for some time and not after chatting with them only once.

When they do decide to meet, they should still exercise caution by telling someone where they are going and who they are meeting. They could even bring a friend along so they will feel safe. Should things go well without any incident, then there won’t be any problems. But should the uneventful take place, they should be report this to the police and to the administrator so the one responsible for this will be punished.

While some teens may think that they are not given any privacy, parents who decide to put the computer in an open area like the kitchen or family room are actually doing them a favor. This will let the parents know what sites they visit, what content they have downloaded and monitor their surfing habits.

When the teen is logged into a social networking site or simply hanging out with friends, it is important that they just be themselves. This means not being bullied or pressured to do something they don’t want to do or be something they aren’t which can only be achieved of course by knowing their limits.

They should also stop chatting with someone who asks about their physical features or what is their attitude toward sex because the individual who is asking just wants to have sex which is a classic case of manipulation and not true friendship.

Social Networking and Teens (part 1 of 2)

Social networking sites are very popular among teens because this is gives them a sense of belonging. While many say that this is part of growing up, there are risks involved, which is why they should be cautions.

Since they are not kids anymore, they more or less know which information of themselves should be made public. It is okay to talk about their hobbies, their favorite band or sport but not post their phone number or address since someone might call them up or visit them at home.

They should only add friends that they know in real life like their classmates, teachers and family members.

So no one outside their friends will be able to read anything that they posted, it is best that this is set to private. Doing so will prevent people who are not in the friend’s list from viewing their blogs or photos.

Before you post it, make sure that this is tasteful and not sexually provocative.  You can make alterations using some programs to remove any identifying information.

They also should not post any plans like where they will be on the weekend to avoid meeting someone who could be a potential threat.

When they open an account, they should use a screen name and not their real name. It is also advisable not to mention their real age or gender as some sites require it.

The only way your teen can log into their account is to type in their username or email address and password. The password must never be shared to anyone even their friends.

Should they encounter any harassment or negative comments on their profile, it must be ignored and reported to the administrator.
